Don Alvarez practices primarily in civil litigation, including business and commercial litigation, business divorces, contract disputes, and business torts. He also has extensive experience in litigating construction-related disputes for owners, general contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers. In addition, Don has extensive experience as an Arbitrator and Mediator for most type of civil disputes.

Don is an “AV” rated attorney in Martindale-Hubbell’s listings of attorneys. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona, the New York State Bar, the American Bar Association, the Maricopa County Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Arizona Association for Justice (fka Arizona Trial Lawyers Association), the Scottsdale Bar Association, and Arizona’s Finest Lawyers (Sustaining Member). He is admitted to practice in the District Courts of New York (Northern and Southern Districts), and Arizona, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also been admitted to practice in the District Court of North Dakota. In addition, he is a member of the American Arbitration Association, having served on its panel of arbitrators since 1980. Don has served on the Board of Trustees of the Maricopa County Bar Foundation (Chairman 2005) and the city of Scottsdale’s Judicial Appointments Advisory Board.

Don was born and raised in Niagara Falls, New York. He earned a B.A. in history from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School in Albany, New York in 1975. Immediately following his admission to the New York State Bar, he entered private practice. In 1979, he relocated to Arizona and was admitted to practice here in 1980.

Don has always been actively involved in the community. He has served on the Board of Directors of Youth Partners Foundation, Canyon State Academy and Arizona Boys Ranch, and he has served as a Foundation Board Trustee for The Boys and Girls Club of Metropolitan Phoenix. He also has been a member of the Phoenix Sundown Rotary, serving as Secretary, Treasurer and President.
